What is GiveNOLA Day?

GiveNOLA Day is a 24-hour, online giving event organized by the Greater New Orleans Foundation to ignite the giving community in Southeast Louisiana. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24 hours to contribute as many charitable dollars as possible to support the work of local nonprofit organizations. Last year’s event raised $4 million from 43,000+ donors across the nation. This year, we hope to do even more! GiveNOLA Day is based on other successful giving days hosted by community foundations across the country.

What is GNOYO’s Goal for GiveNOLA Day?

Last year GNOYO raised 6,385 dollars this year we have a goal of 10,000 dollars.

When will GiveNOLA Day take place?

It will be from 12:00:01 a.m. to 11:59:59 p.m. on May 3, 2016. All event-related donations must be made online during the 24-hour period.

Who can make a donation on GiveNOLA Day?

Anyone can make a donation to a nonprofit that has created a profile on GiveNOLA.org. You do not have to live in the New Orleans region to donate but the nonprofits must be located in and serve the Greater New Orleans Foundation 13-parish region (Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, and Washington).

What will the charge look like on my credit card statement?

Since all transactions are processed by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, your credit card statement will reflect this. Depending on your bank, this charge may appear as “Greater New Orleans Foundation,” “GNOF,” or a similar abbreviation. The charge will not be posted as GiveNOLA or GiveNOLA.org.

How will I be recognized as a donor?

You will receive an immediate thank you email and your tax receipt from the Greater New Orleans Foundation.

Does it cost anything to contribute through GiveNOLA.org?

There is no fee to you as a donor. You will receive an immediate thank you and tax receipt for 100% of your donation. There are standard credit card and management fees associated with the Kimbia platform. They will be withheld from the final disbursement to nonprofit organizations.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Donations are 100% tax deductible. You will immediately receive an email from the Greater New Orleans Foundation confirming your donation. Please save this email for your records.

How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

For every donation, there is a 2.99% fee from The Greater New Orleans Foundation’s online platform provider, Kimbia, as well as credit card processing fees that vary depending on method and type of card used (~2.50%). Overall, we estimate that 93% – 95% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit. The Greater New Orleans Foundation does not receive any portion of these transaction fees.

Does the Greater New Orleans Foundation receive any portion of the donations?

No, the Greater New Orleans Foundation does not receive any of the processing fees or the credit card processing fees.

Can my donation be anonymous?

Yes. There is an option to give anonymously on May 3rd.

Can I make a donation using my smart phone or tablet?

Yes. Our technology provider has a “mobile optimized platform” that will make it easy to make a gift on GiveNOLA.org using your phone or tablet with internet capabilities.

Is my gift safe and secure?

Yes. The GiveNOLA.org website is powered by Kimbia. It is a secure PCI-Level 1 compliant site for donating to your favorite charities.
