Marta Jurjevich earned a DMA in viola performance and music education from the University of Illinois, where she was a string pedagogy student of Paul Rolland. Currently string program director and music department chair at Lusher Charter School, her past faculty appointments include Franklin and Marshall College, Northern Michigan University, and a number of faculty posts in New Orleans. With extensive freelance experience in Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, Ms. Jurjevich has enjoyed many long-term orchestral and chamber music opportunities as a violinist, violist, and performer of early music. A resident of New Orleans for twenty years, Ms. Jurjevich played section violin and viola in the Louisiana Philharmonic. She is married to conductor Steven Edwards, with whom she shares five children.
